A look at Nyary ES, the treasure cove in Albert Park
Nyary ES is made up of two very special spaces - a retail concept in Albert Park, where you’ll find it fresh and unexpected, full of beautiful and eclectic decorative items from around the world that Jenny and Peter have sourced themselves, alongside crafted pieces from their second space, the Caulfield workshop. At the workshop they design and hand craft bespoke furniture, mirrors and architectural items to suit any individual or commercial requirements.
We visited Jenny and Peter at their Albert Park store and asked them a few questions about how it all started and what inspires them most.
Can you please tell us a little bit about yourselves and how you started your business?
Peter has been making furniture, specialty joinery and architectural pieces for 40 odd years - he has a workshop in Caulfield. Being hunters and collectors led us to open our first shop in High St Prahran 17 years ago, we moved beachside and have been here in Albert Park since 2014
What/who inspires your style and what draws you to that particular style?
We don’t have a particular style but we both like unusual and unexpected, plus its normally always with colour.
Do you source all of your stock yourselves? What is the process of sourcing like for you?
Yes, we travel overseas once or twice a year and buy what we really love and would like to own ourselves.
What is your current favourite piece in your store?
There’s always a new favourite but this weeks would be the antique Sicilian pottery we just bought back from Italy.
We understand you have a furniture making business as well as the shop, can you tell us a little about your furniture style?
We really like old interesting Spanish or Italian furniture, so the furniture on the shop floor is mostly in that style, but these days Peter concentrates on designing and making pieces to suit the customer.
